WUS vs. Chepstow House

Monday 16th September

By Pietro Greco

On Monday afternoon Westminster’s U11 Arrows faced Chepstow. The Arrows set up in the classic 7 a-side formation as Nicky kicked-off.

As soon as we were underway from the very first minutes, Max worked his socks off making every tackle possible, on the other side, the attackers kept on pressing. Finally, the goal came: Pietro and Reggie played a brilliant one-two, suddenly Pietro sprinted into the box, Reggie did a perfect cross which flew in and dropped on Pietro’s raised leg, and… it was a scorpion kick goal, which lobbed the keeper. 1-0! What a way to start!

Two minutes later, Toby had brilliant shot, which the keeper did well to save. No worry, Thomas was there to backup and tapped the ball into the open goal, 2-0.

Chepstow counterattacked and did a lovely top corner finesse. 2-1. Corner for Chepstow: the cross comes in and unfortunately the ball somehow ends up in the net. 2-2.

Reggie did brilliant run and shot. The rebound came to Pietro, which made sure it was 3-2 sending the ball into the bottom corner as the keeper was off his line. Jeremy played a lovely through ball to Pietro who faked and let the ball roll through his legs, the ball ended on Nicky’s feet who dealt with it well and finished it off nicely. 4-2.

A few minutes in Chepstow looked dangerous and hit the post. Felix made some crucial and spectacular saves and Lucian made some fantastic runs down the wing, even having some good shots. Toby broke through the defence and shot, the ball whizzed past the keeper and into the top corner. 5-2! Toby racked up another good goal, 6-2.

In the last minute, Pietro dribbled past two defenders and had a shot, which skimmed the post. Unlucky.

Finally, the whistle blew for the last time and we had nothing to be unhappy about. We all played really well and a special mention to Hugo, which played really hard always getting good crosses in the box, and to Jeremy who passed and defended really well.

At the end we all celebrated with Lucian’s brownies…
