Match Report – WUS vs Arnold House 25th September 2019

WUS-2 Arnold House- 4

We the First XI walked onto the pitch full of confidence with the belief that we could win against a formidable Arnold House team. Sadly, Aiden and Gabriel couldn’t play due to injuries, so Lakshikan was brought up from the Second XI.

We started off a little shakily, but soon we found our feet and started playing well. From a goal kick Seb found Freddy in open space who ran onto the ball and lobbed the Arnold House keeper. 1.0! After a testing period for the Arnold House defence, Giacomo passed to Freddy who broke through and scored a goal from outside the box. 2-0!

Unfortunately, a couple of minutes later Arnold House broke through and scored a well-deserved goal. 2-1. Our three defenders- Jamie, Hector and Lakshikan held the Arnold House attack off very well despite growing pressure but the tide had turned. Arnold House had regained their confidence and a couple of minutes before the first half ended, they scored again. 2-2.

The second half was dominated by Arnold House. As a result of some excellent and aggressive attempts by Arthur, Ivo and Alfie to score with some probing support from Alexander up the wing, the woodwork was hit more than once. Ned put in some solid defensive play but we were increasingly penned back. They scored a quick goal, and midway through the half it was followed by another – a close game ending with a final score 2-4.
